Cinnamon Scrolls

These are the perfect treat for mum on Mothers Day or just as an extra special weekend breakfast. The dough is surprisingly easy to make and work with. These scrolls tend to go fast so make sure you eat them fresh out of the oven. You can also prepare the scrolls the night before to bake in the morning.

  • 300 g self-raising flour
  • 100g butter
  • 350ml milk
  • 50 g margarine
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup icing sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees
  2. Blend the flour and butter until they resemble breadcrumbs
  3. Add milk slowly until it forms a dough ( sometimes it needs a little bit more milk to bring it together)
  4. Roll dough out until it is between 0.5 cm and 1 cm
  5. In a bowl combine the cinnamon, margarine and brown sugar
  6. Spread cinnamon mixture over the dough
  7. Roll into a large scroll and cut into 2 cm slices
  8. Arrange slices in a pan lined with baking paper
  9. Bake for 15-20 minutes
  10. In a separate bowl mix icing sugar, vanilla and milk until it forms a runny frosting
  11. Serve Cinnamon scrolls hot with frosting

Enjoy xx
